Assessment
Criteria
Esperanza is pleased to work with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and EDUCATE Ventures Research as the international knowledge partners. Two review panels will screen the entries and shortlist 10 for the assessment of ISTE and EDUCATE. Both the K12 and Adult Learning tracks will be assessed by these five key parameters:
25%
Theory of Change
20%
Stakeholder Engagement
15%
Making the right choice of technology
20%
Effective implementation of the technology
20%
Learning experience and milestones achieved
The assessment focuses more on the rationale, design, planning and implementation process rather than the outcome of the EdTech initiative, because it may take considerable time to realise and evidence the benefits of an initiative. We welcome organisations which are at an early stage of using EdTech to apply for the Award. We intentionally design the award application form as a learning journey by embedding the elements for effective applications of education technology. By completing the application form, you will learn the best practices for integrating technology in teaching and/or learning.
Application
The senior management of an organisation (CEO/Head of Learning and Development, Principal/Vice Principal or equivalent) should complete the entry form on or before 7 July 2023:
Please complete the form in ENGLISH. The application form includes multiple choice questions, comment boxes for you to explain your choices and options to attach supplementary information (e.g. photos, videos, slides, survey results, data sheets etc). It takes around 1.5 hours to finish the application. You don’t have to finish the application in one go. You can save the draft and come back to finish the application form before the submission deadline.
We look forward to your submission and wish you an enjoyable learning experience!
If you cannot open the form, it may be due to restrictions in your internet network or the anti-virus software installed on your device. You can try the links below instead:

Have a Question?
An organisation can submit more than one application as different departments/units can implement different EdTech initiatives.
If an organisation/a department/a unit is using different technology applications to achieve different objectives, you may submit one application to cover the different objectives and initiatives.
No, we are not looking for successful EdTech initiatives for the EdTech Heroes Award. The Award aims to encourage experimentation of innovative teaching and/or learning through the use of technology. We are more interested in the theory of change, the implementation process and the learning experiences. It may take time to realise the intended outcome.
All applications will be evaluated based on the five key parameters: Theory of Change (25%), Stakeholder Engagement (20%), Making the right choice of technology (15%), Effective implementation of the technology (20%), and Learning experience and milestones achieved (20%). We will assess how the organization learned from the not-so-successful initiative and what steps are taken to improve the use of technology in teaching and learning.
Definitely. See the answer to Q2.
The EdTech Heroes Award aims to encourage the adoption of technology to improve the teaching and/or learning experience. If you are an EdTech business, it will be more appropriate for you to join the Edventures Global Business Acceleration Fellowship which is designed for growth stage EdTech ventures seeking to expand in Asia.
EdTech solution providers can also encourage your clients to apply for the EdTech Heroes Award.
For each category (K12 or Adult Learning), there will be a Grand Awardee and 5 category winners for each of the assessment parameters.
- – Vision Award
- – Stakeholder Engagement Award
- – Choice of Solution Award
- – Implementation Award
- – Learning Experience Award
No, the application is free of charge.
Unfortunately, once you submit your application, you cannot edit or revise it. Please review your application carefully before submitting it.
The winners will be notified in September 2023 and announced during the EdTech Month in October 2023.
We invite Principals or Vice Principals to submit the application, as they are often instrumental in setting the vision. However, the teacher responsible for implementing the EdTech programme can submit the application on behalf of the school, after getting the endorsement from the Principal/Vice Principal. The applicant school has to provide the contact information of the Principal/Vice Principal and the responsible teacher.
The Award is designed to acknowledge schools and organisations that have used technologies to enhance teaching and/or learning. While individuals play a crucial role, the focus is on the collective achievements of the organization.
No, the Award is open to Hong Kong based schools and organisations but the EdTech applications can take place in other markets.
