Covid has catalysed the use of technology in education.  Just as we think learning can resume normalcy, AI (as manifested in the advent of ChatGPT) is making shock waves in the education world. From a nascent concept, Education Technology (EdTech) has come to the forefront in the future of learning. It is set to transform fundamentally the WHY, WHO, WHAT and HOW of learning.

History repeats itself.  Two hundred years ago, the arrival of the chalkboard incited a rebellion at Yale University. Fifty years ago, the introduction of calculators sparked a heated debate amongst educators. Innovation is not for the faint hearted. It always starts with a small group of people who have the vision and courage to take the road less travelled. To experiment, to fail and to learn from the mistakes. This is how our society makes progress.

Esperanza is excited to launch a new EdTech Heroes Award. We would like to celebrate the early adopters of EdTech in Hong Kong and their learning journeys. The Award seeks to:

Encourage adoption of technologies to innovate teaching and learning

Promote a culture of experimentation in the transformation process

Foster peer-to-peer learning from successful and not so successful experiences

Build a community of progressive learning organisations

The technology includes but is not limited to AI, blockchain, cloud, data analytics, extended reality, gamification, Internet of Things,  mobile technology and robotics. The EdTech application can be developed in house or introduced by a third party provider.
